Some proper autumnal winds today. The forecasts all pointed to it picking up in the afternoon, so I drageed my heels for a a change about getting out there.

When I did get out there I went out with my 5m (newly repaired), rigged on my new mast and boom, and my new (small) JP Wave board. It was fine to start with, but then a few sqaulls came through which made the wind a little gusty for a while. I sunk acouple of times, so came back in and let off some outhaul before going back out. The board felt pretty technical to sail at only 52.8cm in width it also felt pretty narrow. Once up and going it has pelnty of speed though and is just lovely on the face of the wave.

Steve was out on his wave board with a 5.3, Jonah was out with his new 85 ltr board and 5m, and Chris had a very quick blast (about 10 minutes) before disappearing.

The wind filled in properly after a while and became less gusty, giving me a chance to give the new board a good work out. The waves were massive out the back as well, and the speed and lightness of the bard ed to some huge jumps. I had a bit of trouble gybing it on the outside for some reason, but had some really nice wave-rides on the way back in, and coped OK with gybing on the inside. I then went for a couple of forwards. I didn't land any of them, but the first was a pretty good attempt, the second was a little messy though.

All in all, as good as it gets really, the water is still warm, we had a proper autumn blow, some big waves and lots of new toys to play with.
